Physiotherapy

High-level physiotherapy at Recovery Base in Munich’s Old Town

Because physiotherapy is more than isolated treatment to a minimum standard

Our treatment principles

Individual, integrative and up to date

Every patient is unique — that is why we combine active and passive measures and make time for personal care. Let’s take the first step together towards more mobility, less pain and greater wellbeing.

Individual

Every treatment is tailored to your specific complaints and goals.

Integrative

We combine different treatment methods into a holistic approach.

Up to date

Modern techniques and current scientific findings inform every treatment.

Our treatments are up to date:

We combine proven methods with current scientific findings to give you the best possible treatment. That keeps us flexible and lets us adapt to your individual progress.

Every person is unique — and we shape your therapy that way too.

We take the time to get to know you and your needs, and to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to you.

We do not treat symptoms alone — we see you as a whole.

In our practice we treat body and mind as one, with comprehensive care that supports lasting wellbeing.

Our range of treatments

We are a private practice, so our services are available to privately insured patients, civil-service aid recipients and self-payers.

Therapeutic exercise (KG) is an established treatment for complaints and functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system and internal organs. The aim is to restore or improve mobility, strength and function. We use active exercises you perform yourself as well as passive techniques guided by the therapist, including massage-like mobilisation.

Equipment-based therapeutic exercise (KG-Gerät) helps treat acute and chronic musculoskeletal complaints as well as neurological and other limitations. Using machines, dumbbells, fascia rollers, kettlebells, boxes and cable systems, we build strength, improve endurance and coordination, and regulate muscle tension.

Manual therapy (MT) uses precise hands-on techniques on your joints, spine, or injured muscle and connective tissue. The aim is to ease pain and improve mobility. Special mobilisation and soft-tissue techniques prepare you well for active therapy.

We support you before and after surgery: beforehand we strengthen your muscles, improve mobility and explain what to expect. Afterwards we help you regain movement, rebuild muscle and improve coordination — and we stay with you on exercises for long-term prevention.

Sports physiotherapy is tailored to active people and athletes. It treats injuries that can occur in training or competition and supports a fast, effective return. It is also used to improve performance and prevent overload. Individually chosen treatments — targeted exercises, massage, mobilisation and taping — help you get back to sport and improve mobility, strength and endurance in the long run.

(Kinesio) taping applies elastic cotton tape to the skin in specific stretch patterns. This stimulates skin and connective-tissue receptors and helps regulate pain and muscle tension.

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle massage that uses light, pleasant stretching stimuli on the skin and subcutaneous tissue. This stimulates lymph flow and helps reduce excess fluid. It can also ease pain and relax muscles — for a lighter overall feeling in the body.

Classic massage therapy (KMT) uses targeted hands-on techniques on different parts of the body. It helps regulate muscle tension, supports the nervous system and eases pain through better circulation and precise stimuli. Related techniques include segmental massage (SM), connective-tissue massage (BGM), periosteal massage (PM) and colon massage (KM).

Heat therapy (WT) can be used in several ways to support your wellbeing — for example with fango packs or the “hot roll”. Both improve circulation, relax muscles and ease pain. Heat reaches deep into the tissue, releases tension and supports recovery — ideal before further treatment, or simply to unwind.

Cold therapy can be applied in several ways, for example with cold packs that reduce inflammation, ease pain and influence muscle tone. Cold also triggers a local reactive hyperthermia: blood flow increases afterwards and supports healing. This is especially helpful for acute injuries or for quick relief of symptoms.

Medical training therapy (MTT) is a targeted, individually adapted form of training aimed at restoring and improving physical capacity. It is used in rehabilitation after injuries or surgery, and for chronic complaints, to strengthen muscles, increase mobility and improve overall fitness. Under the guidance of experienced therapists, MTT uses training equipment and exercises matched to your needs and goals — supporting faster recovery as well as long-term stability and prevention.

Recovery Boots provide effective dynamic air-compression therapy. Air chambers fill and adapt gently to your skin, creating a mechanical massage through controlled pressure. This helps reduce swelling, relax muscles and ease pain — supporting recovery.

Why physiotherapy at Recovery Base?

Our practice in the heart of Munich offers holistic care from experienced physiotherapists. Close collaboration with physicians, naturopaths and osteopaths in central Munich means you receive comprehensive treatment from one team.

Fees & billing

Please show us the rates your private health insurance or civil-service aid reimburses for physiotherapy and remedies in your tariff. We bill those amounts for you, so treatment in our practice does not create extra costs. Please note that the lower limit for our fees is set by the current Federal Civil-Service Aid Ordinance. In individual cases a different fee may apply according to the services used.
